Purwaceng Coffee

This is the best coffee I’ve ever enjoyed. This is a mixture of local coffee and purwaceng leaf. What is it a Purwaceng. Purwaceng is a local plant in Dieng. The local community trust purwaceng be able to increase stamina. In Javanese language, Purwa means of plant and Ceng is stamina, that Purwaceng is planf to increase stamina. The taste of purwaceng coffe is similar robusta coffe and there are litle spicy taste.

After the drinking purwaceng coffe, the body will feel soft warm and the fatigue/tired will be reduce. This is the best coffee I’ve ever enjoyed. Delicious and healthful.

Sugar Factory Kalibagor

In colonial era, Banyumas is resident in the territory of the Dutch. In this place a lot of historical building. One of them is Kalibagor sugar factory.

Unfortunately, since this sugar factory closed in 1996, this condition is not maintained. The main building a lot of damage and the factory area to grow weed. Though this plant can be utilized as a potential tourist.

Based on data from the Office of Archives and Library of Banyumas, the sugar factory was built in 1839 by Edward Cooke Jr. He Dutch private entrepreneurs.

At that time, this factory was the largest in Central Java. The existence of this plant, closely related to cultural stelsel conducted by the Dutch goverment. The cultural stelsel requires people in the colonies to grow plants that export value. Such as sugarcane, tobacco, indigo, coffee, etc.

Banyumas, considered very suitable for planting sugar cane crops. Other than that available potential land and river transportation. So that the construction of sugar factories in Kalibagor considered very precise. Sir Edward Cooke Jr. died in 1847, and was buried in the factory complex.
